Mesotherapy
& Lipolysis
Mesotherapy was pioneered in France in 1952,
the fruit of Dr Michel Pistor’s innovation and philosophy.
His mesotherapy technique was approved by France’s Academy of
Medicine in 1987 and incorporated into the standard therapeutic
arsenal. In 1991, Dr Michel Pistor was bestowed the Legion of
Honor ("Legion d'Honneur") by France for his innovation and
contribution in the field of medicine. This is the highest award in
France and it is only given to few individuals who are
considered National Heroes with significant accomplishments.
Over the years, mesotherapy has gained in
popularity in North America and Asia. However, there is a dearth of
textbooks of mesotherapy in English and this has hindered the growth of
mesotherapy in these 2 continents.
In 2007, Esthetic Medic organized the First
Asean Mesotherapy Seminar and Workshop in Singapore and invited Dr
Jacques Le Coz to conduct the seminar. During the seminar, the idea of
translating and publishing Dr Le Coz’s book on mesotherapy
(Traité de mésothérapie which was in
French) in English was mooted and Esthetic Medic was appointed the
publisher of his book.
This comprehensive textbook by Dr Jacques Le
Coz is a tribute to Dr Michel Pistor and the legacy of his
ground-breaking work. This book is written with the intention of
enlightening our medical colleagues on the history and practice of
mesotherapy, clarifying current misconceptions and stimulating further
scientific research in this technique.
The book covers multiple applications for
mesotherapy, most particularly, in general medicine, sports medicine
and aesthetic medicine. For each clinical indication, it offers a clear
therapeutic plan, a precise and appropriate treatment protocol, the
locations and depths of injections, the frequency of treatments as well
as the technical details to avoid pain, hematomas and any secondary
effects.
Separate sections are targeted at general
practitioners, rheumatologists, rehabilitation specialists, sports
medicine specialists and aesthetic physicians, providing each specialty
with new therapeutic modalities of treatment to complement their daily
practice.
Discussions also include a section on
Lipolysis with Phosphatidylcholine and Deoxycholate, with scientific
studies on the proof and efficacy of the new therapeutic products, the
precise techniques and the latest results in the field of aesthetic
medicine.
